Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students across K-12 settings in the greater Kansas City area. As a paraprofessional, you will make a positive difference every day, working alongside educators to assist children with diverse needs in both general and SPED classrooms. Flexibility is essential, as caseloads range from 1:1 assistance to general classroom support in any of the district’s 22 elementary, 6 middle, and 5 high schools.
Your daily schedule may vary depending on placement, with shifts aligning to school hours: middle (7:00-2:30), high (7:30-3:00), and elementary (8:30-4:00 or 9:00-4:30). Positions are available for summer session as well as the new school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with K-12 students and familiarity with special education environments
- Comfortable with toileting, changing, and managing a variety of student behaviors
- Possess or eligible for an active Missouri Substitute Certificate (must be verified on the DESE website)
- Adaptable to floating between different schools and classrooms as needed
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct support to students, implementing teacher-developed strategies and accommodations
- Assist students with daily routines, academic tasks, and inclusion in classroom activities
- Support students with behavioral needs respectfully and proactively
- Provide personal care as needed, including toileting and changing
- Uphold safety and foster a nurturing educational environment for all students
