Support K-12 students this academic year as a dedicated paraprofessional in a vibrant district near Kansas City, MO. This contract opportunity runs from August 25 through May 28 and offers the chance to make a meaningful difference every day. Paraprofessionals will provide essential classroom support—sometimes 1:1, sometimes with groups—in SPED environments across multiple school sites.
Flexibility is important, as you may be assigned to different schools throughout the year, including 22 elementary, 6 middle, and 5 high schools, depending on student needs. Schedules are set by campus: middle schools run 7:00–2:30, high schools 7:30–3:00, and elementary between 8:30–4:30.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Substitute Certificate on DESE website or completed ParaPro Exam with transcripts on file.
- Experience supporting K-12 students, ideally in special education or behavioral support roles.
- Comfort with personal care tasks (toileting/changing), supporting students with diverse needs, and following behavior plans.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with teachers, aides, therapists, and other staff members.
- Willingness to be placed at more than one school site as needed.
- Flexible, reliable, and committed to maintaining a respectful, inclusive environment for all students.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist students in SPED settings, implementing instructional and behavior interventions as directed.
- Collaborate daily with educational teams to further student growth and safety.
- Adapt to evolving school assignments throughout the district year.
- Uphold dignity and respect for all students, including those needing personal care.
