This contract-based opportunity involves partnering closely with an Orthopedic Impairment (OI) Specialist to enhance student engagement and ensure safety throughout the school year.
You’ll play a vital role in assisting students as they navigate classrooms and school facilities, offering direct support with walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment. This itinerant position is ideal for professionals who are passionate about helping others, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple sites.
Qualifications & Background:
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional in a school setting (or equivalent role)
- CPI Certification is required
- Training in assistive technology and mobility devices is essential
- CNA or medical training is preferred
- Strong administrative skills and organization
- Experience in California schools is highly valued
- Bilingual Spanish fluency required
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the OI Specialist with monitoring and supporting students using adaptive equipment
- Help train staff and students in the safe operation and usage of mobility devices
- Promote a positive, supportive learning environment across various educational sites
- Track student progress, document observations, and communicate effectively with staff
- Maintain equipment logs and adhere to all district safety protocols
