Make a meaningful difference every day by supporting students as an Instructional Assistant across a range of K-12 settings. This contract role offers an opportunity to work primarily with elementary-aged children within specialized programs that nurture social, emotional, and functional skills. At 35 hours per week, you’ll be fostering growth, building relationships, and creating a positive learning environment for students with diverse needs.

Key Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children with disabilities in a school setting
  • Valid Missouri sub certificate or proof of passing the ParaPro Assessment / Paraprofessional Assessment, or completion of the 20HR Substitute Certificate Course
  • Ability to remain mobile throughout the classroom and provide occasional physical support, including de-escalation and assistance with behaviors or elopement
  • Comfortable assisting with toileting, lifting, feeding, and other mobility needs as required
  • Experience with small group or 1:1 instructional support
  • Previous medical or behavioral health background is a plus; RBT certification is an added bonus

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instructional and behavioral support in SPED classrooms as an instructional assistant
  • Implement intervention strategies and promote a safe, nurturing environment
  • Work collaboratively with educators and therapists to support students’ learning plans
  • Provide support for social and emotional learning in self-contained and inclusive classroom settings
  • Assist with life skills development, including cooking, work tasks, and fostering independence
  • Support students in general education classes and throughout the school building as needed
