Step into a vital educational support role assisting students throughout K-12 programs, primarily at the elementary level, within a vibrant and collaborative environment. This contract opportunity involves working closely with dedicated teams to foster student growth and success in a variety of settings, including specialized social/emotional learning and functional skills classrooms.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Support students in special education classrooms as an Instructional Assistant.
- Provide hands-on assistance in self-contained K–5 settings specializing in social/emotional learning, with a focus on de-escalation and positive behavioral support.
- Offer compassionate care in K–8 special education programs, aiding with mobility, feeding, toileting, and small group or 1:1 instruction.
- Assist high school students with functional academic and life skills, such as work tasks, cooking, and navigation around the school.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, supporting student inclusion in various subjects.
Candidates should bring:
- Previous experience working with children with disabilities.
- Knowledge in de-escalation techniques and comfortable intervening physically when necessary for student safety.
- The ability to navigate classrooms and support students with physical needs.
- A current Sub Certificate or Paraprofessional Assessment (ParaPro or Pearson), or completion of the 20HR Substitute Certificate Course, as required in Missouri.
- Experience or willingness to assist with medical needs and daily living skills, especially in an educational setting.
- Bonus: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or relevant background.
