Seeking dedicated paraprofessionals to provide essential support in special education classrooms within an established school district in Lees Summit, Missouri. This per diem opportunity offers flexible scheduling assisting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs across multiple elementary, middle, and high schools. Candidates will cover substitute calls for internal staff, working either one-on-one with students or as classroom aides.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special education needs, including those with behavioral intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Assist with toileting and other personal care tasks as required.
  • Follow individual education plans and implement behavior support strategies.
  • Provide coverage on short notice via a mobile app, selecting available shifts.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other educational staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Substitute or Paraprofessional certification issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE); candidates in the certification process may apply but must have certification before starting.
  • Experience supporting students with behavioral challenges and special education needs in school settings.
  • Ability and willingness to complete fingerprinting requirements as part of district compliance.
  • Comfortable working in varied school environments across elementary, middle, and high schools.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to respond promptly to shift notifications through a scheduling app.

Work Details:

  • Location: Multiple sites within a large district in the Lees Summit, MO area.
  • Work Schedule: Ranges from 1 to 5 days per week covering shifts mostly during school hours; shift times vary by school level.
  • Position Type: Per diem, with no guaranteed hours; paid only for hours worked.
