Instructional Aide - Lees Summit, MO

Make an impact supporting students across K-12 as a paraprofessional in a dynamic school environment in North Kansas City, Missouri. This contract role, running from August 25 to May 28, involves providing classroom and one-on-one support to students with diverse needs, including behavioral and personal care assistance within SPED classrooms. Flexibility is key, as you may be assigned to more than one site throughout the academic year, covering 22 elementary, 6 middle, and 5 high schools.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Missouri Substitute Certificate (verified on DESE website) or ParaPro Exam completion with transcripts on file—must be in hand prior to interview.
• Comfortable assisting with toileting, personal hygiene, and managing challenging behaviors with dignity and respect.
• Prior experience as a paraprofessional or in special education settings preferred.
• Ability to float between sites as needed and proactively adapt to changing assignments.
• Excellent collaboration skills for working with teachers, aides, therapists, and support staff.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with classroom activities and support the individual needs of students in SPED settings, both one-on-one and in groups.
• Implement teacher and therapist-driven strategies, including behavior intervention plans.
• Provide respectful and supportive personal care, including toileting and changing as required.
• Ensure a safe, engaging learning environment while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Document and communicate student progress as directed.

Schedules vary by school level, generally between 7:00 am – 4:30 pm, depending on site assignment. Successful candidates will complete a short pre-screen phone call and a Zoom interview with a school representative.
