Instructional Assistant - Leicester, North Carolina

Embark on a fulfilling role supporting students as a contract paraprofessional within a vibrant K-8 school setting near Leicester, NC. This position focuses primarily on working with younger students in grades K-4 and plays a key part in the exceptional children’s program. Your day will be dynamic, providing 1:1 assistance with students—who may change throughout the day—or engaging with small groups, helping create an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional or supporting students in an educational setting
• Ability to adapt and respond to the changing needs of different students throughout the day
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with exceptional needs
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with teachers and staff
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities:

• Offer 1:1 support to assigned students, adapting to their individual learning and behavioral needs
• Participate in small group sessions, facilitating academic and social development
• Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all students
• Support the exceptional children’s program by following individualized education plans (IEPs)
