Step into a rewarding role providing dedicated support as a Deaf/Blind Intervener for an elementary school student. This contract opportunity spans from August through early June, offering 37.5-40 hours per week of meaningful, student-focused work. You’ll play a vital part in helping a 4th-grade student fully access their education, both academically and socially.
Key Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional in a school setting
- Familiarity with supporting students with sensory impairments, particularly deaf-blindness
- Demonstrated ability to provide one-on-one assistance tailored to individual student needs
- Attentiveness, patience, and a genuine commitment to fostering student independence
- Effective communication skills and collaborative spirit with educational teams
Core Responsibilities:
- Serve as a 1:1 support for a 4th-grade student who is deaf-blind
- Facilitate communication access throughout the school day, ensuring the student’s meaningful participation in classroom activities
- Assist with adaptations to materials and instructional methods to meet the student’s sensory and physical needs
- Support the student’s mobility, organization, and personal management as needed
- Work alongside teachers and service providers to implement individualized education plan (IEP) goals
- Monitor progress, provide feedback, and contribute insight to the team regarding strategies and supports
