Make a meaningful impact supporting students in K-12 settings as an Instructional Assistant. This contract position offers the opportunity to assist in both general and special education classrooms, primarily at the elementary level, with assignments also available for middle and high school students. Dedicated paraprofessionals are needed to support students with disabilities and behavioral needs in a variety of instructional and self-contained settings.
Key Qualifications:
- Proven experience working with children with disabilities
- Experience with classroom management, de-escalation, and behavioral interventions
- Current sub certificate or successful completion of the ParaPro or Paraprofessional Assessment in Missouri
- Physically able to support student mobility, provide physical management when needed, and assist with elopement
- Background or willingness to assist with toileting, lifting, feeding, and mobility (especially for K-8 assignments)
- Bonus if you hold a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential
- Flexibility to work across elementary, middle, and high school programs
- Meet at least one of the following: 60 college credit hours, ParaPro Assessment (prior or current, as specified), or completion of the 20HR Substitute Certificate Course
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in delivering instruction and individualized support
- Foster a positive, supportive learning environment while supporting social/emotional growth
- Work closely with students in both large and small group settings, or 1:1 as needed
- Help implement work skills activities (such as running a coffee shop or preparing simple meals) and foundational academics with high school students
- Support students with daily living activities and integration in general education classes
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions
