Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students for the remainder of the 25/26 school year as a Bus Aide. Contribute to the well-being and safety of students during their daily transportation, working closely with drivers and other staff members. This role is perfect for compassionate individuals with experience as a Paraprofessional or Certified Nursing Assistant who are dedicated to making a difference in a school environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional or certified nursing assistant
- Strong verbal de-escalation skills
- Demonstrated experience working with special needs children
- Previous experience riding the bus with students, preferred
- Ability to provide 1:1 or 2:1 support for students during transport
- Reliable and punctual, able to manage early morning and afternoon schedules
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accompany students to and from school in school-provided vehicles
- Work collaboratively with drivers to ensure safe transit
- Support students’ needs during transit, including helping with transitions and maintaining a calm environment
- Utilize verbal de-escalation skills if necessary
- Ensure each student’s safety and comfort throughout each trip
- Escort students from their pickup points to school in the morning and back in the afternoon
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding any concerns or updates about students’ transit experience
This contract position averages 15 hours per week, with split shifts in the morning and afternoon, ideal for those seeking part-time hours and a structured schedule. Strong possibility of renewal for the following school year and participation in Extended School Year programming.
