Para Professional in Long Beach, CA

Step into a vital support role assisting students on their daily journeys to and from school as a Bus Aide for the upcoming academic year. This contract position is designed for compassionate professionals who are enthusiastic about working within a school setting and are eager to provide meaningful assistance to children with unique needs. With a flexible schedule totaling 10-15 hours per week, you will play an important part in creating a safe and welcoming environment for students during transit.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Experience as a paraprofessional or Certified Nursing Assistant
• Previous work supporting special needs students strongly preferred
• Skilled in verbal de-escalation techniques
• Comfortable with riding in vehicles and assisting students in a 1:1 or 2:1 setting
• Reliable, punctual, and able to communicate effectively

Key Responsibilities:

• Accompany the school driver to pick up students from their homes in the morning and transport them safely to school
• Ride with the student(s) each afternoon from school back home, ensuring safety throughout the trip
• Support students during transit, with a special focus on those requiring additional assistance and attention
• Foster a calm atmosphere, utilizing de-escalation techniques when needed
• Respond appropriately and professionally to daily challenges or emergencies
• Adhere to onboarding and reporting protocols required by the school and agency

Position Details:

• Morning hours typically range from 6:30am to 8:30am; afternoon hours from 2:30pm to 4:30pm, depending on route assignment
• Contract runs ASAP through May 28, 2027, with strong likelihood of renewal for ESY and the following school year
• Openings in Seattle, WA and surrounding areas
• Short, 15-minute interview process
