Teacher's Aide - Long Beach, California

Support students as a Bus Aide for the upcoming school year in a rewarding contract opportunity. As a crucial presence during school transportation, you'll play an important role riding with students to and from school, ensuring their journey is secure, calm, and comfortable. The schedule offers morning hours between 6:30 am and 8:30 am and afternoon hours from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, totaling 10–15 hours per week, dependent on assigned routes. With three openings available, this is an opportunity to provide consistent, positive support to students from ASAP through May 28, 2027, with a strong likelihood to continue into the next academic year, including Extended School Year (ESY) sessions.

Desired Background:

• Experience as a Paraprofessional, Bus Aide, or Certified Nursing Assistant
• Demonstrated ability to work 1:1 or 2:1 with students needing extra support during transit
• Background supporting children with special needs, including previous bus aide experience
• Verbal de-escalation skills and a calm, communicative demeanor
• Flexibility to adapt to varied morning and afternoon schedules

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ride with students on bus routes, ensuring their safety and comfort
• Assist with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed
• Utilize de-escalation and communication techniques to address student needs
• Maintain a collaborative relationship with drivers and school staff
• Report callouts to both the school and recruiter as required
