Take on a rewarding contract assignment providing crucial support as a Bus Aide for schools throughout the Philadelphia, PA area and nearby communities. In this important role, you will travel alongside students either 1:1 or 2:1, ensuring a safe and positive environment during their daily transportation to and from school. You'll work 3 hours daily (90 minutes in the morning, 90 minutes in the afternoon), totaling 15 hours per week, with schedules ranging between approximately 6:30–8:30 am and 2:30–4:30 pm, depending on your assigned site.
There are 13 openings for the remainder of the 25/26 school year, with a strong possibility of continuing into summer (ESY) and the following school year.
What We’re Looking For:
- Paraprofessional or Certified Nursing Assistant credentials welcomed
- Previous experience riding school buses with special needs students is preferred
- Effective verbal de-escalation and behavior management skills
- Compassion, patience, and a focus on student safety
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with bus drivers and school personnel
- Willingness to work assigned hours and reliably support student transportation
Key Responsibilities:
- Accompany students on bus rides to and from school
- Support students with special needs throughout transit, monitoring behavior and ensuring their safety
- Serve as a positive and calming presence, using de-escalation approaches as needed
- Communicate any concerns or incidents to appropriate school staff
- Assist with boarding and exiting the vehicle, following all established protocols
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
