Support students during their transportation to and from school as a Bus Aide in a K-12 educational setting. This role is essential for ensuring a safe, calm, and supportive environment for students requiring additional assistance on their bus rides. The position will serve a critical role within an educational service district (ESD), primarily based in Denver, CO, and nearby areas, with an immediate need for over 50 aides.
Responsibilities:
- Accompany students on the bus during morning and afternoon routes, providing 1:1 or 2:1 support based on individual needs.
- Assist the bus driver in picking up the student from home and securing their safe arrival at school, and vice versa during dismissal.
- Implement verbal deescalation techniques to maintain a positive and safe atmosphere.
- Support students with special needs, ensuring they feel comfortable and safe throughout the ride.
- Collaborate with school and transportation staff to address any concerns or changes throughout the route.
Qualifications or Desired Experience:
- Experience working with special needs children strongly preferred.
- Previous experience riding the bus with a student or equivalent understanding of bus routines.
- Paraprofessional certification or experience; Certified Nursing Assistants are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong verbal deescalation skills and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Dependable and punctual, with availability during morning hours between 6:30 am - 8:30 am and afternoon hours between 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
Details:
- Location: Denver, CO and surrounding northern areas.
- Schedule: Approximately 3 hours per day (90 minutes AM and 90 minutes PM), 15 hours weekly.
- Duration: January 5, 2026 – May 29, 2026, with possibilities to continue through summer (ESY) and into the 2026/2027 school year.
- Contract position with a strong chance for renewal.
