Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Background as a Paraprofessional or Certified Nursing Assistant
- Previous experience supporting children with special needs, ideally in a bus or transportation setting
- Verbal deescalation skills to calmly manage challenging situations
- Comfortable with caseloads ranging from 1:1 to 2:1 (student to aide ratio)
- Reliable attendance and a caring, team-focused mindset
Role Responsibilities:
- Ride with students on buses to and from school, ensuring their safety and comfort
- Attend morning and afternoon bus shifts (approximately 90 minutes each), averaging 15 hours per week
- Get picked up at the student’s school, assist in transporting the student from home to school in the morning, and follow the reverse process for dismissal in the afternoon
- Foster a positive, supportive environment for students during transportation
- Collaborate with drivers and school staff to provide seamless care
