Special Education Para Professional in Los Angeles, CA

Make a positive impact in students’ lives by providing key support as a Bus Aide for the upcoming school year. This contract position offers a meaningful role assisting students during their daily commute, ensuring they arrive safely and positively start and end each day. Opportunities begin as soon as possible and extend through May 2027, with a strong potential for renewal in the following year.

You’ll work 10-15 hours per week, with shifts scheduled in the early mornings (typically between 6:30 am and 8:30 am) and afternoons (between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm), depending on assigned routes. Caseloads vary from 1:1 to 2:1 student-to-aide ratio, and you’ll enjoy a consistent routine with plenty of opportunity to form lasting connections with the students you support.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Experience as a Paraprofessional or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
• Prior experience riding the bus with students is highly desired
• Strong verbal de-escalation skills
• Experience or enthusiasm for working with students with special needs
• Ability to be reliable for both AM and PM shifts throughout the school year
• Clear communication and professional demeanor

Key Responsibilities:

• Ride in the vehicle to and from school with students
• Collaborate with drivers to ensure student safety and comfort
• Provide attentive care to assigned students, responding calmly if issues arise
• Report callouts as required and complete required onboarding
