Make a difference in the lives of students as a Bus Aide, supporting daily transportation for the remainder of the 25/26 school year, with a strong likelihood of renewal. This contract role involves working 3 hours per day, split between the morning and afternoon: typically between 6:30-8:30 am and 2:30-4:30 pm, providing steady part-time hours each week.
Your primary responsibility will be riding with a student from their home to school and back, partnering closely with the driver and school staff. As a key support person, you'll help ensure the student’s journey is safe, comfortable, and positive. Your verbal de-escalation skills and experience with special needs children will be valued as you assist students, provide encouragement, and help address challenges that may arise en route.
Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Experience as a Paraprofessional, Bus Aide, or Certified Nursing Assistant
- Background working with special needs students, ideally with prior bus ride-along involvement
- Skilled in communication and verbal de-escalation techniques
- Calm demeanor and patient approach to supporting children and adolescents
- Ability to commit to the contract duration and extended school year (ESY) sessions
Key Responsibilities
- Ride along with students in the mornings and afternoons, ensuring safety and providing support
- Foster a positive travel experience through attentiveness and clear communication
- Collaborate with drivers and school staff regarding each student’s needs
- Respond appropriately to student behavior, utilizing de-escalation strategies when necessary
