This contract position features a schedule perfect for those seeking morning and afternoon hours and strong potential for renewal into the following school year, including summer sessions.
Key Qualifications:
- Paraprofessional experience or Certified Nursing Assistant certification preferred
- Previous experience working with special needs children, ideally in a school or transportation setting
- Proficiency in verbal de-escalation strategies
- Reliable, punctual, and keenly observant with strong communication skills
- Ability to manage 1:1 or 2:1 caseloads while fostering a positive environment
- Must be available for morning (6:30 am – 8:30 am) and afternoon (2:30 pm – 4:30 pm) routes, 10-15 hours per week total depending on assignment
- Willingness to complete onboarding requirements
Role Responsibilities:
- Ride on the school vehicle to and from school alongside students with special needs
- Assist drivers by providing attentive care, ensuring student safety and comfort throughout each route
- Support positive student behavior and utilize de-escalation techniques as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely communication regarding schedule, attendance, and incidents
- Participate in all required orientation and onboarding sessions
