Support students safely during transportation as a Bus Aide in a K-12 school setting, providing assistance on daily bus routes in the Seattle, WA area. This contract position offers approximately 15 hours per week over morning and afternoon shifts, from now until May 29, 2026, with the potential to continue through Extended School Year (ESY) services and the following school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students by providing 1:1 or 2:1 support during bus rides to and from school
- Collaborate with the bus driver, accompanying them on the route starting from the school to the student’s home and back
- Support students with special needs, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the trip
- Apply verbal de-escalation techniques when necessary to manage challenging behaviors effectively
- Maintain clear communication with school staff and families to promote a positive transportation experience
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working with special needs children preferred
- Familiarity with 1:1 or 2:1 support while riding the bus is desirable
- Strong verbal de-escalation skills and patience in handling various student needs
- Candidates may hold Paraprofessional certification or be Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)
- Reliable and punctual with a commitment to daily attendance during scheduled hours
Schedule and Location:
- Approximately 3 hours per day, 15 hours per week
- Morning shift: 6:30 am – 8:30 am (varies by site)
- Afternoon shift: 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm (varies by site)
- Based in Seattle, WA and surrounding communities
