Make a real difference in students’ school journeys by providing essential support as a Bus Aide for the remainder of the 2025/2026 school year! Immediate opportunities are available across multiple locations in and near Philadelphia, helping ensure each student's travel experience is safe, comfortable, and positive. This contract position is ideal for individuals with experience as a Paraprofessional or Certified Nursing Assistant who thrive in supportive roles and enjoy working with children, including those with special needs.
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience as a Paraprofessional, Certified Nursing Assistant, or similar role
- Strong communication skills, especially with children and school staff
- Reliable transportation to and from assigned school district locations
- Familiarity with safely supporting special needs students, including 1:1 and 2:1 settings
- Verbal deescalation skills and a calm, compassionate demeanor
- Prior experience riding the bus with students is preferred
Key responsibilities:
- Accompany school bus drivers to pick up and drop off students, ensuring their safety at all times
- Maintain a supportive and attentive presence for students during transit, including those requiring extra assistance
- Assist with boarding and exiting the vehicle
- Communicate effectively with school staff, drivers, and families as needed
- Implement gentle behavioral interventions or support plans while on route
- Help create a positive, respectful environment for all passengers
Enjoy steady, part-time hours—90 minutes each morning and afternoon, totaling approximately 3 hours per day, 15 hours each week. The schedule aligns with the academic calendar and offers a strong possibility of renewal for the next school year, including Extended School Year (ESY) periods.
