This contract opportunity is based in Macon, GA, where you’ll work full-time in a dedicated learning environment, making a significant difference in the lives of students at the Georgia Academy of the Blind School. You’ll play a vital role in daily classroom activities, contributing to a collaborative and nurturing atmosphere.

Qualifications & Desired Skills:

  • Active Paraprofessional Certification in Georgia required (successful completion of the Paraprofessional GACE and valid certification)
  • Demonstrated experience working as a paraprofessional, ideally in a school setting
  • Familiarity with supporting students with visual impairments is preferred, though not mandatory
  • Ability to commit to a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and a passion for helping students succeed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on classroom support to students and teachers as directed
  • Assist with instructional activities designed for learners with visual impairments
  • Aid in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Facilitate a supportive learning environment by reinforcing lessons and fostering independence
  • Help supervise students during classroom transitions, activities, and break times
  • Collaborate with special education staff and other professionals on campus
