Step into an impactful contract opportunity supporting students with the most significant needs in a special education setting. This role is based at a setting where students spend 100% of their day in special education, often presenting with diverse and intensive behavioral and developmental challenges. You’ll work full-time, Monday through Friday, 32.5 hours per week from September 8, 2026, through June 10, 2027.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and assistance to students with significant behavioral and developmental disabilities
- Assist licensed teaching staff in instructional and non-instructional activities
- Support students across age ranges from elementary through high school—please indicate any age-level preferences
- Participate in daily routines, which may include assisting with toileting and other personal care needs
- Help maintain a structured, nurturing environment to maximize student learning and safety
- Collaborate actively with teachers, therapists, and other school personnel to best support each student
- Document student progress and maintain consistent communication with faculty
Desired Qualifications:
- Must be “Highly Qualified”:
- Either by passing the Minnesota Para Educator Exam (attach official test score), or
- By having at least 60 college credits (official transcripts required—diploma/degree will not suffice)
- Relevant paraprofessional experience in educational or behavioral support roles strongly preferred
- Comfortable and experienced supporting children or adolescents with high behavioral needs and severe disabilities
- Willing and able to perform duties related to personal care, including toileting
- Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills essential
This contract offers a pay rate of up to $20 hourly, with the possibility for direct hire after 422 hours of service.
