We are looking for dedicated Special Education Assistants for two contract openings: one providing one-on-one support to a 4th-grade student, and another assisting two to three students in a 5th-grade classroom. You’ll help foster both academic growth and positive behavioral and social-emotional development.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience as a Paraprofessional or Special Education Assistant in a school setting
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans
- Ability to provide academic guidance and adapt instructional strategies
- Skilled at offering social and emotional encouragement suited to elementary-aged students
- Effective communicator, able to collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and families
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable in dynamic classroom environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to students with special needs, tailored to their unique learning styles
- Implement teachers’ lesson plans and accommodations as specified in IEPs
- Support students with classroom participation, transitions, and peer interactions
- Assist with behavior management using positive reinforcement techniques
- Monitor student progress and share observations with the classroom teacher and team
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student interactions
