Classroom Assistant | Middletown, Rhode Island

Embark on a dynamic contract opportunity supporting young learners in an elementary classroom setting. As a valued paraprofessional, you’ll play a key role in a collaborative environment, working closely with a team of teacher assistants to foster a positive, inclusive experience for students in grades K-3 with diverse needs, including language challenges and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

In this supportive, structured classroom of 11, you’ll make a meaningful impact each day, assisting with both educational activities and essential personal care. This assignment begins ASAP and continues through June 18, 2027, with a steady schedule of 31.25 hours weekly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in implementing individualized student learning and behavior plans under the guidance of classroom teachers and specialists
• Provide hands-on support with classroom activities and lessons, adapting materials for diverse learning needs
• Support students' personal care needs, including toileting and diaper changing when required
• Collaborate with six other attentive paraprofessionals, promoting a cohesive and cooperative classroom atmosphere
• Foster social and academic growth in students through encouragement, patience, and creative problem-solving

Desired Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional or educational aide in a school-based environment
• Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, disabilities such as ASD and language disorders
• Comfortable assisting with all aspects of student personal care
• Meets state requirements to serve as a paraprofessional under Rhode Island DOE guidelines
• Effective team player with strong communication skills and a compassionate approach
