Instructional Assistant - Naugatuck, Connecticut

This contract position provides an opportunity to work closely with students requiring additional support, both on a one-to-one basis and in classroom settings near Naugatuck, CT. Work alongside dedicated lead teachers and supervisors, assisting in the supervision, encouragement, and instruction of students in accordance with individualized education plans (IEP) and planning and placement team (PPT) guidelines.

Key Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a paraprofessional or in a directly related educational support role
• Paraprofessional Certification OR an Associate’s degree (or a minimum of 60 college credits)
• Compassion and patience when working with children, particularly those with special needs
• Ability to assist with toileting and personal care as required
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with lead teachers and supervisors
• Organized, flexible, and attentive to the needs of individual students in various classroom situations

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide attentive 1:1 support to designated students, fostering their social and academic growth
• Collaborate with classroom staff to ensure consistent learning experiences for all students
• Encourage student participation, engagement, and independence
• Assist with implementing individualized education programs (IEP), following educational and behavioral strategies
• Supervise students in classroom, hallway, lunch, and other school settings
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment
• Aid students with personal care tasks as needed
