Instructional Assistant - New Britain, CT

Provide essential support to students as a paraprofessional in a contract paraeducator position near New Britain, CT. This full-time opportunity (32.5 hours per week) places you directly in the classroom, where your dedication will help shape the success and well-being of students on the Autism Spectrum with varying behavioral challenges. As an integral team member, you will support 1:1 engagement with 5-7 students per class, ensuring each child receives focused attention and guidance.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Minimum of 1-2 years of previous behavior intervention or special education (SPED) experience
• Background in supporting students on the Autism Spectrum or with behavioral needs, ranging from mild to more pronounced
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive environment for all learners
• Reliable team player with strong communication skills
• Ability to assist with personal care routines, including toileting as needed

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct 1:1 support for students as assigned within classroom settings
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and other staff to advance student progress
• Employ positive behavior management strategies and individualized interventions
• Encourage student engagement, independence, and academic participation
• Monitor, document, and share student progress and behavior with instructional teams
• Adapt to the dynamic needs of students, offering attentive and compassionate care throughout the school day
