Classroom Assistant | New Britain, Connecticut

Make a meaningful impact every day by supporting students as a Paraprofessional and Behavior Technician in a dynamic school setting. This full-time contract opportunity offers 32.5 hours per week, providing individualized support to students with unique learning and behavioral needs.

You’ll work predominantly in 1:1 roles within classrooms, each consisting of 5-7 students. Every student is paired with a dedicated paraprofessional, allowing you to build strong relationships while making a lasting difference. The students you’ll support are on the Autism Spectrum and have varying behavioral challenges, ranging from mild to more intensive needs. Flexibility, empathy, and a calm, encouraging presence are essential as you assist with daily activities, behavioral interventions, and, at times, personal care such as toileting.

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in behavioral or special education support
• Familiarity with supporting students on the Autism Spectrum and/or with behavioral challenges
• Strong interpersonal skills and patience
• Willingness to assist with toileting and personal care if required
• Reliable and consistent attendance record

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized 1:1 and classroom support to students ages 5-7
• Implement behavior intervention strategies as directed by educational staff
• Assist students with daily routines and social skills development
• Maintain accurate records and follow assigned plans
• Foster an inclusive, supportive environment for all learners

Compensation is based on your level of experience, ranging from $18 to $24 per hour, with benefits included to support your well-being and peace of mind.
