Instructional Assistant - New Britain, CT

Make a meaningful impact each day by supporting students with social-emotional and behavioral needs in a school-based setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to assist a student on a 1:1 basis, fostering their growth and success within a welcoming educational environment. The assignment runs from October 1st through November 30th, with a possibility for extension. You'll work on-site during regular school hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Desired Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a Paraprofessional or in a supportive role within K-12 schools
• Familiarity with social-emotional and behavioral support strategies
• Ability to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) or behavior intervention plans
• Demonstrated patience, empathy, and adaptability when working with children
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable and punctual with professional references

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, individualized support to a student with social-emotional or behavioral needs during the school day
• Assist with classroom activities, transitions, and participation in learning
• Collaborate closely with teachers, counselors, and school staff
• Reinforce positive behaviors through established support plans
• Track student progress, behavior, and participation for documentation and reporting
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
