Make a meaningful impact supporting students in an elementary BRIDGES autism support classroom as a paraprofessional during a maternity leave coverage assignment. This contract opportunity runs from late October through the end of March, providing direct assistance to students on the autism spectrum with varying support needs. Located onsite and accessible to the Wilmington, DE area, this position offers weekdays-only hours.

Your ability to collaborate with teachers and provide individualized attention will be essential in fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment. The ideal candidate is adaptable, patient, and passionate about student growth.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Delaware Paraeducator Permit required (must be obtained prior to start; pending status not accepted).
  • Previous experience in a special education setting, ideally with students on the autism spectrum.
  • Understanding of autism spectrum disorder and individualized support strategies.
  • Ability to effectively support lead teachers and work collaboratively with educational teams.
  • Awareness of required $85 CBC fingerprinting fee, paid by candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct classroom support under teacher guidance, adapting to students’ unique learning needs.
  • Implement instructional activities, reinforce individualized learning plans, and promote positive behavior strategies.
  • Assist with classroom routines, documentation, and daily organization.
  • Collaborate with staff to create a supportive, structured, and engaging classroom setting.
