As a Student Care Worker, you’ll play a vital role alongside lead teachers and supervisors, providing guidance and structure for students requiring behavioral and special education support.
Your primary focus will be on maintaining a positive, inclusive environment while delivering one-on-one and group assistance. Help shape meaningful academic and social experiences for students in grades K–5 and 6–8 as part of a caring, collaborative team.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required
- Must meet NCLB requirements:
- Possess an Associate’s degree (or higher) or sufficient college credits
- Or have successfully completed the Parapro Assessment Examination
- Prior experience in school settings with behavioral or special education needs
- Familiarity with educational plans (PPTs/IEPs) and implementing instructional supports
- Ability to communicate, motivate, and build rapport with students and colleagues
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to assigned students as well as small group and general classroom assistance
- Follow educators’ direction to help meet student learning goals
- Monitor and positively reinforce appropriate behaviors
- Participate in the supervision and instruction of students as directed in their IEPs and PPTs
- Collaborate with teachers and supervisors in daily activities, offering insight and reporting on progress
