In this dynamic contract opportunity near New Milford, CT, you'll collaborate closely with lead teachers and support staff, providing individualized and classroom-based assistance to help students achieve their educational and behavioral goals.
Key Experience and Qualifications:
- Prior experience in school behavioral support, special education, or closely related fields
- Background working in K–5, 6–8, and/or 9–12 grade levels
- Confidence working both 1:1 with students and as part of a classroom team
- Ability to follow and support Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Planning and Placement Team (PPT) recommendations
- High School Diploma required
- Must meet NCLB requirements:
- Hold an Associate’s degree or higher or have earned sufficient college credits
- Alternatively, have successfully completed the Parapro Assessment Examination
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in day-to-day classroom management, directly supervising and guiding students with special education needs
- Support student learning objectives with patience, empathy, and effective behavioral strategies
- Collaborate with educators to deliver interventions based on each student's IEP and behavioral plans
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that helps every student reach their potential
