Support students’ growth and learning as a paraprofessional in an onsite position at an elementary school in Wilmington, Delaware. Providing maternity leave coverage from late October through the end of March, you’ll play a key role in a BRIDGES autism support classroom, assisting students across the autism spectrum with their varied needs. This full-time contract opportunity offers meaningful, impactful work in a collaborative school environment.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Delaware Paraeducator Permit required at time of submission (pending status not accepted; candidates must provide verification via DEEDS portal)
  • Experience working as a paraprofessional, preferably in a school or autism support setting
  • Ability to assist students with diverse needs, employing patience, flexibility, and strong communication skills
  • Preparedness to complete background check fingerprinting ($85 fee)
  • For RBTs: must arrange BCBA supervision independently outside of school hours if maintaining certification

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct in-classroom support to students with autism spectrum disorder, following individualized education programs
  • Assist lead teachers with academic support, behavioral interventions, and classroom management strategies
  • Foster an encouraging and structured environment that aligns with school and program guidelines
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development through continual engagement and consistent routines
  • Maintain thorough documentation and adhere to all confidentiality and school policies
