A contract opportunity is available for a dedicated individual with strong American Sign Language (ASL) skills to provide individualized support to a Kindergarten student with communication needs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent, one-on-one classroom support tailored to a young student’s needs
  • Use fluent ASL to facilitate communication and understanding throughout the school day
  • Assist with individualized instruction and encourage positive behavior using effective reinforcement techniques
  • Work closely with classroom teachers, special educators, and support staff to foster a nurturing learning atmosphere
  • Engage and supervise the student during classroom activities, transitions, and routines
  • Adapt to the physical demands of the job, including sitting/standing on the floor as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) to aid student communication
  • A patient, compassionate, and reliable approach to working with young learners
  • Active Missouri DESE Paraprofessional or Substitute Certificate (preferred, not required)
  • Previous experience in early childhood, special education, or behavioral support (a plus)
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to a schedule of Monday through Thursday or Friday, approximately 30 hours per week
  • Reliable transportation and strong punctuality
