Step into a critical support role as a Severe Needs Paraprofessional for the upcoming academic year. This contract position offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of high school students with intensive needs. Assignments run tentatively from August 19, 2026, through June 12, 2027, requiring full-time availability Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Please note that all clearances must be completed by August 13, and initial orientation is mandatory during the first week.

Your primary focus will be supporting students diagnosed with severe needs, including those with autism presenting behavioral and safety concerns. Comfort and experience working within a highly structured, behavior-focused environment are required, as you will be implementing intervention strategies and providing direct, hands-on assistance.

Key Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of paraprofessional experience in a PreK–12 special education classroom serving children with autism and behavioral challenges.
  • Current residence within 35 minutes of the assignment area.
  • Ability to manage aggressive and self-injurious behaviors safely and professionally.
  • Willingness to assist with all hands-on tasks, including toileting, feeding, transfers, and more.
  • Must meet (or obtain within 60 days) PA paraprofessional credentialing requirements: at least two years of post-secondary study (48 college credits), an associate degree, or passing a state-recognized assessment.
  • Reliable transportation.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Implement individualized safety and behavior intervention plans.
  • Support classroom instruction, activities of daily living, and mobility needs.
  • Foster a supportive, consistent environment for students with significant behavioral and safety needs.
  • Communicate clearly with teachers, therapists, and staff.
