Instructional Assistant - Northampton, Pennsylvania

If you're passionate about making a difference in students’ lives and have experience in school settings, this full-time contract opportunity may be a perfect fit. We are seeking several dedicated paraprofessionals for positions supporting individual students in specialized programs, Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week, for the academic year. This assignment does not involve travel; only local applicants will be considered.

Openings are available in diverse settings, all offering the chance to build meaningful 1:1 relationships with students who need extra support:

Role A: Support a high school student enrolled in a Life Skills program. This student has autism and may attempt to leave the classroom if routines are disrupted; a calm demeanor and strong behavior management skills are essential.

Role B: Assist a student in the CCTI program, helping with books, organization, and riding the bus with the student between campuses.

Role C: Work directly with a first grader who has cerebral palsy. Responsibilities include feeding, changing, positioning, and helping with schoolwork. The student is under 50 pounds.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience working in a school environment is required.
• Background providing 1:1 support to students with autism, cerebral palsy, or similar needs strongly preferred.
• Must be comfortable with behavioral interventions and physical care.
• Compassion, patience, and reliability are essential traits.
• Ability to maintain routine and keep students engaged and secure.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized assistance while fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain students’ focus and safety in classroom or building.
• Communicate effectively with teaching staff and follow support plans.
• Adapt to the changing needs of students throughout the school day.
