Make a difference supporting a high school student as a full-time 1:1 paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity is based near Norwich, CT, and offers a rewarding chance to build meaningful connections and provide essential academic guidance. You'll work closely alongside a student with high functioning autism, focusing on helping them achieve their academic goals within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional, particularly in school settings
  • Demonstrated success supporting high school students
  • Familiarity working with individuals with high functioning autism
  • Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow educational plans and adapt to student needs
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, respectful, and encouraging learning atmosphere

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 academic support to a high school student throughout the school day
  • Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to implement instructional strategies and accommodations
  • Encourage independence and self-advocacy skills in line with the student's educational plan
  • Assist with organization, assignment completion, and class participation
  • Model positive social skills and assist with peer interactions when needed
  • Monitor progress and communicate feedback to the educational team
