Special Education Para Professional in Norwich, CT

Make a meaningful impact working directly with students as a full-time Paraprofessional in a vibrant educational environment near Norwich, CT. This contract opportunity spans the academic year from August 24th, 2026, through June 11th, 2027. You’ll be an integral figure, supporting students with complex disabilities, neurodevelopmental delays, and emotional or behavioral challenges. Key Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree or successful completion of the Para Pro exam preferred (experienced candidates without these credentials will also be considered)
• Previous experience working with children who have disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioral/emotional needs is a strong asset
• Strong communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach
• Ability to thrive in 1:1 or 2:1 student support situations
• Eagerness to learn and participate in ongoing training

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support to students with a range of complex needs, fostering independence and academic success
• Assist classroom teachers by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Use positive reinforcement and behavioral support techniques to address students’ unique challenges
• Facilitate daily routines and support engagement in classroom activities
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning atmosphere
• Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to provide holistic care
