This contract role is based at a dedicated setting exclusively serving students (elementary through high school) receiving special education for 100% of their day. The ideal candidate is deeply committed to helping students with severe disabilities and is comfortable working in a setting where behavioral challenges are more common. What You’ll Bring:

  • Highly qualified status, demonstrated by either:
    • Passing the MN Board Highly Qualified Para Exam (Para Educator Exam)
    • At least 60 college credits (transcript required)
  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional, particularly in special education settings, preferred
  • Comfort and ability to assist with toileting and personal care as needed
  • Flexible mindset and willingness to work with students ranging from elementary to high school (please note age preference, if any)
  • Strong communication, patience, and resilience working with students who present behavioral and emotional challenges
  • Ability to follow established plans and collaborate closely with teachers and support staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instructional and behavioral support to students in a Setting 4 program
  • Support students with academic tasks and social-emotional development throughout the school day
  • Assist with personal hygiene, toileting, and other daily living needs as required
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment for all students
  • Work as a key member of the educational team, following the guidance of lead teachers and specialists
  • Accurately document student progress and incidents, supporting compliance with educational plans
