Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Valid Illinois paraprofessional (para) certificate required
- Previous experience working as a paraprofessional in an educational setting strongly preferred
- Candidates with a background in behavioral support will be given priority
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is highly valued
- Strong communication, patience, and adaptability are essential
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and students
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group support to students with diverse learning or behavioral needs
- Assist classroom teachers with instructional activities and classroom management
- Support students’ participation in general education and specialized programs
- Implement behavioral intervention strategies as directed by specialized staff
- Foster an inclusive, positive, and encouraging learning environment
- Help with academic tasks, personal care, and social-emotional development as needed
