Step into a dynamic, full-time opportunity supporting students with orthopedic impairments as an Instructional Assistant. This contract role runs from August 21, 2025, through June 4, 2026, offering the chance to make a meaningful difference each day in an onsite, itinerant setting near Palm Desert, California. Working closely with the Orthopedic Impairment (OI) Specialist, you'll help ensure student safety, advance their mobility, and boost independence while navigating the school environment.
Qualifications and Experience Desired:
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Certification required
- Previous training and hands-on experience with assistive technology and mobility devices required
- CNA or Medical Training preferred
- Administrative support experience strongly preferred
- CA schools or educational setting background preferred
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish required
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the OI Specialist in supervising the use of walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility devices
- Monitor and assist students using mobility equipment throughout the school day
- Help with device training for both students and staff, promoting safety and skill building
- Provide administrative assistance, maintaining documentation and records as needed
- Adjust to various campuses as part of this itinerant (traveling) assignment
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to foster an inclusive, accessible learning environment
