Classroom Assistant | Piscataway, New Jersey

We have three full-time opportunities for dedicated paraprofessionals to make a meaningful difference in students’ daily learning and development. This contract position spans from now through June 22, 2027, with options to extend into the ESY program should you wish to continue making an impact through the summer. The weekly schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:25am to 2:25pm, totaling 30 hours per week.

Key Qualifications:

• Prior paraprofessional experience within a school setting is highly valued
• Demonstrated skill providing 1:1 support for students with diverse needs
• Familiarity with IEP implementation, behavioral plans, and reinforcement systems
• Ability to follow established safety, behavior management, and de-escalation protocols such as Ukeru and CBI
• Excellent communication, observation, and data collection abilities
• Professionalism and strict adherence to student confidentiality and boundaries
• Flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude toward teamwork

Responsibilities:

• Guide the assigned student throughout the school day, including arrival, classroom activities, specials, meals, recess, transitions, and dismissal
• Provide individualized instructional support as directed by the classroom teacher
• Support implementation of academic and behavioral intervention plans
• Monitor and encourage the student’s emotional regulation and independence
• Promptly seek additional support when the student's needs exceed routine assistance
• Accurately document academic and behavioral data; report observations to appropriate staff
• Accompany students during field trips and shared staff planning periods as needed
• Consistently maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
