Instructional Assistant - Piscataway, New Jersey

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a paraprofessional supporting students in a vibrant school setting near Piscataway, NJ! Three full-time positions are available for compassionate, dedicated individuals eager to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students. The assignment runs from immediate start through June 22, 2027, with the potential to extend through the ESY program in July and August 2027.

Enjoy a consistent Monday through Friday schedule (8:25am-2:25pm, 30 hours per week) while working closely with students and collaborating within a dynamic educational team.

Key Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a school-based paraprofessional or similar support role preferred
• Familiarity with IEPs, behavior plans, and supporting diverse learning needs
• Comfort implementing instructional and behavioral strategies under teacher direction
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
• Proactive communication and willingness to collaborate with teachers and clinical team members

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support assigned students throughout the school day, including arrival, academics, meals, specials, and dismissal
• Offer instructional assistance, including prompting, redirection, and encouraging autonomy
• Implement accommodations, behavior plans, and reinforcement or break systems as outlined in the IEP
• Foster emotional regulation using evidence-based practices, such as Ukeru and CBI de-escalation techniques
• Monitor student safety, manage behaviors, and address peer interactions and potential triggers
• Collect and report academic and behavioral data as needed to inform team strategies
• Maintain professional boundaries and uphold strict confidentiality standards
• Remain engaged with students during teacher planning times unless formally relieved
