Instructional Assistant - Plainfield, NJ

Three full-time opportunities are available for committed individuals eager to contribute in a dynamic school environment near Plainfield, NJ. The assignment runs from ASAP through June 22, 2027, with potential to extend participation into the ESY program (July–August 2027). Your weekday schedule will be 8:25am–2:25pm, ensuring work-life balance with weekends off.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in a school-based support role is highly valued.
• Understanding of IEP implementation, behavior plans, and safety protocols.
• Skilled in providing instructional and emotional support to students.
• Familiarity with de-escalation strategies, emotional regulation, or techniques like Ukeru and CBI (preferred, not required).
• Strong observational skills and attention to confidentiality.
• Capacity to collaborate professionally with teachers, clinicians, and school staff.
• Flexibility, patience, and a passion for helping students reach independence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Remain with an assigned student throughout the school day, including arrival, activities, and dismissal.
• Deliver instructional support as directed by the teacher, promoting independence and student engagement.
• Implement IEP and behavioral/safety plans, utilizing reinforcement and break systems.
• Monitor the student’s well-being, interactions, and environmental triggers.
• Appropriately seek additional support (MHT, clinicians, administration) as needed.
• Collect and report academic and behavioral data to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain professional boundaries and student confidentiality at all times.
• Ensure consistent support during teacher planning periods unless otherwise directed.
