Instructional Assistant - Portsmouth, NH

Ten paraprofessionals are needed for a contract position beginning in September 2026 and running through mid-June 2027. Roles include a mix of one-on-one assignments and classroom support, giving you the chance to make a significant impact each day.

Ideal candidates bring a passion for education and a commitment to student growth. Previous school-based experience is preferred but not required—your adaptability and teamwork ethic are key. No additional certifications or higher education are necessary; candidates must simply provide proof of a high school diploma.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Hold a high school diploma (no further certifications required)
• Experience in educational or school settings preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and fellow support staff
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
• Flexibility to adapt to both 1:1 and group classroom roles
• Must provide three completed professional references, including most recent manager, prior to interview consideration

Responsibilities:

• Offer direct support to students, either individually or within classroom settings
• Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and supporting classroom management
• Help foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
• Support students with diverse learning needs
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

You'll work the district’s full-time equivalent of 32.5 hours per week. Middle school hours run 7:10am–2:10pm and high school hours are 7:30am–2:30pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day.
