Step into a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact as a Personal Care Assistant for the upcoming 26/27 school year. This contract position runs from August 25, 2026, through June 4, 2027, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, 7:45am to 3:00pm. You will play a vital role within a 7th Grade Center Autistic Support classroom, offering essential assistance to multiple students in grades 7 and 8.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to students with disabilities, focusing on behavioral and self-care needs.
  • Assist in the daily routines and educational activities of the classroom.
  • Address challenging behaviors, including physical aggression, with calmness and professionalism.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and other educational staff to ensure the needs of each student are met.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately in situations requiring behavioral intervention or crisis management.
  • Support and encourage students’ independence and participation throughout the school day.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Paraprofessional experience in a school setting, ideally supporting students with autism and behavioral challenges.
  • Physical and emotional resilience, with an understanding of strategies to support students displaying aggression or complex behaviors.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to exercise patience, empathy, and consistency under pressure.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the unique and evolving needs of each student assigned.
