We are seeking dedicated and dependable Paraprofessionals to join a supportive school district in Richmond, VA for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with students and want to make a meaningful impact in a school setting.
Paraprofessionals will work alongside teachers, special education staff, and other school professionals to provide academic, behavioral, and classroom support to students. Candidates with previous experience working with children or individuals with special needs are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students
Assist students with academic and classroom activities
Support students with behavioral, social, and emotional needs
Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) under teacher supervision
Assist teachers with maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment
Provide redirection and positive behavioral support when needed
Help students participate in classroom and school activities
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other school professionals
Maintain student confidentiality and follow district policies
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Previous experience working with children is preferred
Experience in special education, behavioral support, childcare, or school settings is a plus
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Dependable, patient, and comfortable working with a variety of student needs
Ability to work effectively as part of a school-based team
Position Details
This is a full-time, school-based opportunity in Richmond. Paraprofessionals will follow the school district calendar and work during regular school hours. Specific caseloads and classroom assignments may vary based on district needs and candidate experience.
