Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional or educational aide preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Comfortable supporting students with diverse learning needs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of related training or certification is a plus
- Flexible, patient, and adaptable in a fast-paced educational setting
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in delivering classroom instruction and supporting daily activities
- Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with varying abilities
- Serve as a sign language interpreter, ensuring clear communication between students, staff, and peers
- Support students with assignments, activities, and transitions throughout the school day
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom atmosphere
- Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) under guidance from certified staff
- Manage and redirect behaviors as needed to foster a positive learning environment
