Make a meaningful impact by providing vital support as a Paraprofessional Bus Monitor for a student commuting to Birch Tree in Portsmouth. In this dynamic contract position, you’ll play an essential role in ensuring a safe and comfortable journey to and from school, serving as both a caring presence and dependable guide.

This position offers a predictable schedule with approximately 20 hours per week. You’ll start your day by meeting the bus around 7:30–8:00 am, ensuring the student’s secure transportation and support until the 10:00 am return. Later in the day, you’ll return at approximately 1:30 pm to coordinate the student’s pickup, finishing after the safe return around 4:00 pm.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

• Previous experience in a paraprofessional role, especially in school settings
• Patience, reliability, and compassion for students with diverse needs
• Strong communication and observational abilities
• Ability to collaborate closely with school staff and transportation teams
• Active listening skills and a calm, reassuring demeanor during transit

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide supervision and support to a student on the bus each morning and afternoon
• Ensure the student’s safety and respond to any needs during travel
• Communicate with families, drivers, and school staff to coordinate effective transportation
• Maintain accurate documentation of daily travel as required
• Foster a welcoming, positive environment for the student throughout their journey
