Instructional Aide - San Mateo, CA

Make a meaningful impact in the upcoming 26/27 school year as a Paraprofessional supporting a Special Day class near San Mateo, CA. This contract opportunity spans from August 10, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with a consistent weekly schedule totaling 32.5 hours. You’ll play a crucial role in providing dedicated, individualized support to a student, fostering their growth both academically and socially.

Key Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a paraeducator or paraprofessional, ideally in special education settings
• Familiarity with the unique dynamics and challenges of Special Day classrooms, especially regarding behavioral support
• Comfortable managing one-on-one student relationships, building trust and encouraging independence
• Spanish-English bilingual skills are strongly preferred to better serve both the student and their family
• Adaptable, patient, and proactive in supporting diverse learning and behavioral needs

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 assistance to a student, reinforcing learning activities, behavioral interventions, and daily routines
• Collaborate with special education teachers and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Encourage student participation, socialization, and self-advocacy within the classroom environment
• Document progress, address behavioral concerns, and adapt support strategies as needed
• Foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere that helps students thrive academically, emotionally, and socially
