Qualifications:

  • Active Illinois Paraprofessional certification required
  • Previous experience working as a paraprofessional in schools highly valued
  • Candidates with behavioral support background or experience managing challenging behaviors will receive additional consideration
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is a significant plus
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff and students

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support and assistance to students under the direction of certified teachers and support staff
  • Implement instructional, behavioral, and social supports as outlined in student plans
  • Help facilitate classroom activities, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all learners
  • Offer 1:1 or small group assistance, as required, to help students meet educational goals
  • Adapt and modify materials and activities to support individual student needs
  • Foster effective communication between students, teachers, and families
  • Uphold school policies and contribute to a positive school culture
