This rewarding contract opportunity is designed for professionals skilled in American Sign Language and passionate about supporting elementary students. As a vital presence in the classroom, you’ll assist an elementary-aged student throughout the entire school year, working approximately 30 hours each week. Your expertise in both behavior management and sign language will be crucial in helping to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience as a paraprofessional or in a similar classroom support role
• Strong behavior management skills, comfortable implementing strategies to support student success
• Patient, compassionate, and dependable
• Able to collaborate closely with teachers and related service providers
• Committed to supporting students with unique learning and communication needs

Responsibilities:

• Work one-on-one with an elementary student, providing classroom and communication support using ASL
• Facilitate inclusion and participation in classroom activities
• Monitor the student’s engagement, focus, and behavior, implementing individualized strategies as needed
• Communicate effectively with educators, therapists, and families about the student’s progress
• Support the teacher in creating a welcoming, productive learning environment
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
