Step into a vital support role in education as a skilled ASL Paraprofessional. This contract opportunity is based on-site and centers around working with students who have hearing loss in a dynamic school environment. The assignment spans from ASAP until May 29, 2027, with a consistent 37.5 hours per week supporting students at either Highlands High School or Mission Academy—each located just 13 minutes apart.

Your primary focus will be facilitating communication, providing classroom support, and assisting educators, adapting to students’ needs in a dedicated educational setting. You’ll build meaningful relationships and make a daily impact, whether assigned to a smaller group of 10 students at Highlands or a larger cohort of 30 at Mission Academy.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or higher, or
  • At least 48 recognized college semester hours plus successful completion (70%+) of a paraeducator course via Stedi.org, or
  • Pediatric or school-based experience with children with hearing loss
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Ability to pass a fingerprinting/background check as required by the state
  • Familiarity with American Sign Language and dedication to supporting students with diverse needs

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group support to students with hearing impairments
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to reinforce lesson material and communication
  • Assist in the implementation of IEPs or educational plans
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment, encouraging student participation
  • Adapt to day-to-day site needs and follow established educational standards
