Instructional Assistant - Schertz, Texas

Bring your expertise as a Paraprofessional supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing to an engaging assignment in a school setting near Schertz, TX. This contract position is ideal for someone fluent in ASL and passionate about guiding learners to achieve their academic potential. You'll work with students at either Highlands High School or Mission Academy, supporting a caseload of approximately 10 to 30 students, depending on assignment details at the time of interview.

This role is on-site, with standard hours totaling 37.5 per week. The assignment begins as soon as credentialing is complete and continues through late May 2027. Candidates should be ready for interviews during the last week of October.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree or higher OR
• At least 48 college semester hours recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting agency, plus successful completion of a paraeducator course via Stedi.org (passing score of 70% or higher) OR
• Experience with pediatric or school-based populations, preferably with students who have hearing loss
• ASL proficiency required
• Fingerprinting and background check must be completed prior to start
• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom and one-on-one support for students with hearing loss in coordination with teachers and service providers
• Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment
• Adapt instructional materials as needed for accessibility
• Assist with communication, technology, and behavioral support
• Serve as a vital link between students, educators, and families to support student success
