Step into a rewarding contract position as a Deaf/Blind Intervener supporting a 4th grade student for the 2026-2027 school year. This opportunity, located near Southport, NC, offers 37.5-40 hours per week and the chance to make a meaningful difference in a school environment. The assignment runs from August 21, 2026, through June 4, 2027.

Leverage your experience as a paraprofessional and provide essential 1:1 support for a student with unique communication and participation needs. You’ll collaborate directly with educators and specialists to ensure inclusive learning and a supportive environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional or similar school-based support role
  • Knowledge and/or experience with deafblind interventions or willingness to participate in relevant training
  • Ability to facilitate communication and classroom participation for students with sensory impairments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and patience
  • Strong commitment to student advocacy and inclusion
  • Capacity to follow educational plans and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized 1:1 support to a 4th grade student who is deafblind
  • Promote full communication access and assistive strategies throughout the school day
  • Encourage classroom participation and social engagement
  • Accompany and assist the student across different educational settings
  • Maintain clear documentation and communication with faculty and therapists
  • Support the student’s safety, independence, and learning objectives
