Located near Stamford, CT, this full-time, onsite position offers 32 hours per week for the 2023-2024 school year and promises a rewarding experience supporting students in special education environments.

You will work closely with teachers and therapists to foster academic, social, and emotional growth for children with a range of abilities and needs. Your ability to collaborate and your reliability will make you an essential part of the educational team.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Proven experience as a paraprofessional in schools, especially working with children
  • Familiarity with special education laws and best practices
  • Comfort adapting instructional methods and resources to individual students’ needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork
  • Experience supporting the implementation of IEPs and collecting relevant data
  • Commitment to reliability, punctuality, and maintaining a strong work ethic
  • Effective problem-solving, organization, and time management skills
  • Empathy and patience for working with students with behavioral and physical disabilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom teachers by supporting daily instruction and individualized student needs
  • Help implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Collect and report data on student progress
  • Employ specialized teaching techniques and assistive technology
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment
  • Collaborate actively with faculty and parents to ensure student success
