An exciting contract opportunity is available to work 1:1 with an elementary student as a Paraprofessional during the Extended School Year (ESY) program. This assignment offers an engaging summer schedule, perfect for those interested in making a significant impact in a supportive educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience as a paraprofessional, ideally in a school setting
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL); at minimum, working knowledge of basic signs with strong motivation to advance ASL skills
- Willingness and ability to work closely with a young student one-on-one
- Commitment to fostering inclusion and supporting the IEP goals set by the educational team
- Dependable, positive, and able to communicate effectively with students and staff
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct in-class support to an elementary student who uses ASL to communicate
- Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff using sign language
- Reinforce learning and behavior strategies as directed by the IEP team
- Collaborate with educators and other support professionals to create a positive, accessible learning environment
- Commit to the ESY schedule (June 15–July 24, 9:45am–11:45am, with specified days off)
- Be adaptable to the needs of both the student and the classroom environment
