Instructional Aide - Sylva, NC

Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional or teacher’s assistant, especially in elementary, middle, or special education environments
• Ability to work 1:1 with students who have diverse learning needs, including those in Exceptional Children programs
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with teachers, students, and support staff
• Patience, adaptability, and a proactive attitude in classroom settings
• Comfortable supporting students with daily learning activities, implementing teacher-directed strategies, and promoting a positive classroom culture

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated assistance to students needing individualized support
• Collaborate with lead teachers to implement lesson plans, support IEP goals, and reinforce classroom instructions
• Ensure student safety and inclusion by assisting with personal care, engagement, and behavioral encouragement as required
• Support both academic and social-emotional development through one-on-one and small group interactions
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate observations to educational staff
