Instructional Assistant - Torrance, California

Make a difference in the daily lives of students by providing essential support as a Bus Aide for the 2026/2027 school year. Multiple openings are available for dependable and compassionate professionals to assist students during transportation to and from school. With flexible hours in the mornings and afternoons, this role is an excellent fit for those who want to help students in the community on a part-time, contract basis—and there’s a strong chance for renewal and opportunities for extended assignments.

Key qualifications and experience:

• Previous experience as a Paraprofessional or Certified Nursing Assistant welcomed
• Strong verbal de-escalation skills
• Comfort working 1:1 or 2:1 with students, especially those with special needs
• Familiarity riding as a bus aide or with transportation assistance is preferred
• Ability to complete required onboarding steps, including CANS fingerprinting (with upfront cost reimbursed)
• Reliable, punctual, and communicative

Core responsibilities include:

• Riding in the school vehicle to support students during morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off
• Assisting students as they transition between home, vehicle, and school, ensuring a safe and calm environment
• Collaborating with the driver to manage any needs that arise en route
• Maintaining clear, professional communication with school staff and recruiters regarding schedule updates or absences

This contract opportunity averages 10–15 hours per week, scheduled between approximately 6:30–8:30 am and 2:30–4:30 pm, depending on the site and assigned route. Assignments run ASAP through May 28, 2027, with potential for ESY and future school year renewal.
