An educational service district is seeking over 50 dedicated Bus Aides for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year to support students in transit. These contract positions offer approximately 15 hours per week, with duties focused on assisting students aged K-12 during their bus rides to and from school.
Location and Schedule:
- Positions primarily based in Denver, CO, and surrounding northern areas
- Work schedule: 3 hours per day (90 minutes morning, 90 minutes afternoon)
- Morning hours generally between 6:30 am – 8:30 am; afternoon hours between 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
- Assignment period: January 5, 2026 – May 29, 2026
- Opportunity to continue through Extended School Year (ESY) and resume in August for the 2026-2027 school year, with a strong chance of contract renewal
Key Responsibilities:
- Ride alongside students on school buses during pick-up and drop-off times, ensuring a safe and supportive environment
- Assist with 1:1 or 2:1 student support while in transit
- Accompany the bus driver to pick up students at their homes and transport them back to school
- Apply verbal de-escalation techniques as needed, fostering calm and positive interactions
- Support students with special needs, demonstrating patience and understanding
- Familiarity with riding the bus with the assigned student is preferred for continuity and safety
Qualifications:
- Experience as a paraprofessional or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is highly desirable
- Prior experience working with special needs children
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills
- Reliable and punctual with a commitment to student safety during transportation
